I Shined Upon The Light (A Christmas Poem)

To celebrate the holiday I wrote a Christmas poem! Currently my dad and I are trying to turn it into a song.

I Shined Upon The Light 

December 2013

I waited for my time to come

The light fading, colors changing from the sun

I felt so small, my task so great

With the Lords promise I could fulfill my fate

The view so perfect, I felt blessed

I saw the few striving to finish their quest

Three wise men, Joseph and Mary

The night full of peace awaiting the Baby

Across the sea I saw much more

The faithful seeing my bright light, rich and poor

Their fingers pointed up towards me

Humbled, I knew the Lords plan could make them see

I could hide my joy no more

My light shining brighter than before

The long awaited time had come

The worlds Savior was then born in Bethlehem

The world has changed so much since then

I look forward to when Christ comes again

We nee His peace; we need His love

Like that beautiful night I saw from above

The swaying velvet dream

Of my hidden desire

The dark romantic musk

Making my eyes see faded hopes

The moment has come to return home

Looking about I see we have grown

Enveloped by memories recent and aged

Familiar, it's hard to grasp that we've changed

The routine of past years feels untouched

Harsh time tears me from that I have clutched

Grasping tightly, I won't accept revision

Season to claim change, caged by indecision

I love yesterday and tomorrow

Why must the present give me sorrow

I need to abandon who I am today

The ever-changing me I need to portray

Snow keeps me chilled

till only you can make me warm.

Numbness has seeped through my senses

depriving me of the beauty I once felt.

Your strong heart can beat for two

forcing the warm blood through my veins.

Sensation softly radiating with each pulse

till once again I can reach out and touch.

My rigid frame now able to soften

as my lips once again smile.

Your fire burns brilliant

I move closer, arms outstretched.

Time slows down

The open still air feels chilled and large

Afraid to move

One breath will echo through this empty space

One turn of the head

I am a statue cold and hard marble

Frozen by the lack of reality

Caught in this lonely shell

Surrounded by fragmented dreams
